Veteran Norwich police lieutenant to retire
Norwich - Police Lt. Christopher Ladd, a 24-year veteran of the department, is retiring effective Sunday.
Most recently the evening shift commander, Ladd finishes his career with a host of commendations that include several perfect attendance awards, a citation from the Drug Enforcement Administration for his work during the major drug and weapons-related investigation in 2008 and an assignment to the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force from 2009 to 2011.
Norwich Police Chief Louis J. Fusaro wished Ladd well and said the department would miss Ladd's wealth of institutional knowledge that only comes with experience. Fusaro said Ladd had helped to train and mentor many of the younger officers coming into the department.
During the course of his career, Ladd worked as a patrol officer and as a detective who was assigned for a time to the Statewide Narcotics Task Force. He was promoted to sergeant in 2003 and was serving as the detective sergeant in 2012 when he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant.
