Norwich – Kevin Hines, who survived a jump off the Golden Gate Bridge, and police Officer Kevin Briggs, who is considered the "guardian of the Golden Gate Bridge," will speak at Three Rivers Community College Thursday as part of a series of suicide prevention initiatives at the college.
Hines was 19 years old when he attempted suicide. He suffers from bipolar disorder. Briggs has dealt with many threatening suicide at the bridge and has successfully convinced many to seek help rather than end their lives. They will tell their stories.
Many police officers are expected to attend. Counselors will be available.
The program, from noon to 3 p.m., will take place in multipurpose room F117. Admission is free.
