Voluntown — A 3-year-old girl who was struck in the head by a tree limb on Friday was flown by Life Star medical helicopter to Hasbro Children Hospital in Providence, fire officials said.

The Voluntown Fire Department responded at 5:50 p.m. to a home on Wylie School Road to treat the girl for what appeared to be a serious head injury, according to Voluntown Fire Chief Jody Grenier. Paramedics from American Ambulance were also called to the scene.

The unidentified girl's condition is unknown at this time.
