Fallen wire clogs traffic in Norwich

Norwich — Traffic backed up on Washington Street and several surroundings roads Friday afternoon after a tractor-trailer knocked a power line down into the road.

The incident occurred at 3:14 p.m. when the truck clipped a power line in the area of Bliss Place, across from The William W. Backus Hospital. Police said the line hit a vehicle, but no injuries were reported.

With a wire in the roadway, the road was closed and traffic was at a standstill.

Norwich Public Utilities was called in to repair the line.
