H.S. track roundup: Ledyard boys beat NFA in ECC Large

Ledyard - Joe Carter won four events as Ledyard High School remained unbeaten with an 83-67 victory over Norwich Free Academy in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division boys' track and field meet on Tuesday.

Carter won the 100-meter dash (11.1 seconds), 200 (23.0), long jump (20 feet, 10.5 inches) and triple jump (40-0) for the Colonels (4-0, 2-0), while Bryce Hedman won the 800 (2:09.4) and was part of the winning 4x800 relay, Mike Lopes won the high jump (5-8) and was part of the winning 4x400 relay, Brandon Chesnut won the discus (129-2) and Justice Startz captured the 300 intermediate hurdles (49.7).

NFA (2-2, 0-2) picked up individual wins from Jordan Crawford (110 high hurdles, 18.8), Conor Gralton (1,600, 4:36.3), Leo Bienvenue (400, 56.6), Tyler Sholes (3,200, 10:34.7), Javon Brown (shot put, 42-9.75) and Anthony DePietro (javelin, 134-2).

In other meets:

• Tyler Latham won three events as Fitch beat Woodstock 101-49 in the ECC Large Division. Latham won the 110 hurdles (15.9), 300 hurdles (41.0) and discus (113-4). Zach Higgins won the long jump (17-7) and triple jump (36-0) for Fitch (4-0, 2-0) and teammates Quartney Parker, Owen Stanfield, Devin Lehman, Daquan Hamlin, Isaac Perez and John Floyd also won events.

• Dan Linkinhoker finished first in the 800 (2:15), 1,600 (4:58) and 3,200 (10:51), as well as running a leg on the winning 4x800 relay team, pacing Montville past Waterford 83-62 in the ECC Medium. Tom Podeszwa (high jump, 5-4), Tyler Quidgeon (shot put, 36-5), Jacob Smaltz (javelin, 126-7) and Anthony Williams (discus, 102-6) also won individual events for the Indians (2-2, 2-0). Julio Gil-Martinez won the 100 (11.5) and 200 (22.9) and Donny Craig the long jump (18-4) and triple jump (36-5) for Waterford (1-2, 0-2).

• John Dipollino won four events as Stonington beat Killingly 107-38 in the ECC Medium. Dipollino won the long jump (19-8), high jump (5-6), 110 hurdles (18.3) and 300 hurdles (45.5). Matt Prue won the 400 (55.6) and 200 (23.8) for Stonington (2-2, 1-1) and teammates Jacob Aubrecht (3,200), Matt Mitchell (100), Sam Williamson (pole vault) and Connor Feeney (javelin) also won individual events.

• Windham beat St. Bernard 130-14 in the ECC Small Division. James Rose had a pair of second-place finishes for St. Bernard (0-5, 0-3).

Girls

• MiaLynne Park, Taylor Driggers and Olivia Lane won two events each as NFA beat Ledyard 125-25 in an ECC Large Division meet. Park won the 100 (12.8) and 200 (26.4), Driggers won the long jump (16-2 3-4) and triple jump (32-4 3-4) and Lane won the shot put (35-9 1-2) and discus (79-2). Henley Smith, Nicole Coughlin, Camille McKenzie, Charlotte van Sambeck, Ally Fields, Marvelose Gueirier and Gabby Wise also won events for NFA (4-0, 2-0). Chenoa Sebastian won the 100 hurdles and Ari Fustini the javelin for Ledyard (0-4, 0-2).

• Jenna Schumacher won the shot put (29-5.5), discus (80-2) and javelin (112-2) for East Lyme in a 103-42 victory over Bacon Academy. Bacon topped New London in an ECC Medium Division meet, 92-15. Also for East Lyme (4-0), Janelle Wheaton won the 200 (27.8) and the high jump (4-8).

• Nadia Dallas was a double-winner, taking first in the 100 (13.4) and long jump (14-0), leading Montville past Waterford 98-42 in the ECC Medium. Abby McAdams finished first in the high jump (4-4) and 400 (66.6) while Kiah Strickland (100 hurdles, 16.7), Caitlin Turney (300 hurdles, 53.0), Abby Baukus (1600, 5:56), Hannah Marchini (800, 2:45) , Tavanhee West (shot put, 25-9) and Naomi Clark (javelin, 66-3) also were individual winners for the Indians (4-0, 2-0). Savonnah Artis won the 200 (27.4) and triple jump (32-0) and Jeannette Mooney won the 3,200 (12:40) and Isabella James was first in the discus (74-9) for Waterford (1-2, 0-2).

• Stonington's Alex Pratt won two events but the Bears lost to Killingly 79.5-70.5 in the ECC Medium Division. Pratt won the long jump (15-9.5) and triple jump (31.2) and Meg Rolfe, Molly Crowley and Kaeli Novak also won events for Stonington (0-4, 0-2).

• Woodstock beat Fitch 80-69 in the ECC Large. Alicia Moroyoqui and Sydney Spruill won two events each for Fitch (1-3, 0-2). Moroyoqui won the 800 (2:40) and 1,600 (5:54.6), Spruill won the high jump (5-2) and triple jump (29-8 1-2) and teammate Stephanie James won the 100 at 13.6.

• Allie Regan won the 100 and Ellen Arvidson took first in the 800 and 1,600 for St. Bernard in a 91.66-46.33 loss to Windham in the ECC Small. Mackenzie Nagy won the 400 for the Saints (1-4, 1-2).
