A woman was injured Friday afternoon in a one-car accident on the ramp heading from Bridge Street in Groton to Interstate-95 just before the Gold Star Bridge, police said.

The woman, who name was not immediately available, was taken by ambulance to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, where she was being treated for minor injuries, State Trooper Jeffrey Fahey said.

She was driving a Lexus sedan onto the highway southbound shortly before 12:45 p.m. when the car went off the ramp and took out a light pole, he said. Police interviewed several witnesses at the scene and also notified the State Department of Transportation about the pole, Fahey said.

The road remains open. Police were speaking to the woman at the hospital and no further information was immediately available.
