New London — Police arrested a New London man wanted by parole officials Thursday and found him in possession of 1 pound of marijuana.

Terrance Beddoe, 34, of 64 Mountain Ave. was charged with possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a public housing complex and tampering with evidence.

Officers from the Vice and Narcotics Section saw Beddoe drive a Mitsubishi sedan in the area of Colman and Garfield streets. They said they knew he was wanted by the Connecticut Parole Board and they were able to confirm that there was an active order to remand to custody if he were found.

Police stopped Beddoe and noticed an “overwhelming” scent of marijuana coming from the car.

Police searched the vehicle and found 1 pound of marijuana. Police also said Beddoe broke his cellphone in two pieces as his vehicle was being pulled over in an effort to hide his narcotics transaction telephone contacts, they said.

Beddoe is being held on a $50,000 non-surety bond at the New London Police Headquarters along with the Board of Parole’s Remand to Custody.
