Morgan restoration inspirational event

My wife and I had the great pleasure of attending the film documentary on the life of the whaling ship Charles W. Morgan at the Grade Arts Center in New London. We were impressed by the work of Bailey Pryor, Stephen Jones and their entire team in telling the ship's story in such an informative way.

Having been born and raised in Mystic, the Morgan has always been a beacon for me. I have great memories of riding my bike downtown to the Seaport as a child to meet other friends and let our imaginations run wild in the best playground in the world. Countless hours were spent on the Morgan exploring every nook and cranny until we declared the ship our own.

Kudos go to the Mystic Seaport and their dedicated team for having the vision to accomplish the amazing feat of a complete and seaworthy restoration. We have a picture of the Morgan coming upriver to her new home in Mystic in 1941 and we will be cheering her on May 17 as she leaves to begin her 38th voyage out on the open sea.
