The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said today that there is still time for volunteers to sign up for this Saturday’s State Parks Appreciation Day and help prepare a favorite state park for the summer season.
Rocky Neck in East Lyme, Gillette Castle in East Haddam and Lyme and Harkness Memorial in Waterford are among the more than 20 parks around the state where volunteers will be working.
A list of parks participating in the Appreciation Day and information on work that will be underway at each location can be found at www.ct.gov/deep/stateparksappreciationday. Details on how to sign up to volunteer for State Park Appreciation Day are also available there.
The event will give residents a chance to show their support for parks as the state marks the centennial of the park system, DEEP Commissioner Robert Klee said.
Details on the state park system and the centennial can be found at www.ct.gov/deep/stateparks100.
