East Lyme — The town will host a workshop on Solarize East Lyme, a program to provide residents with incentives and discounts for solar energy, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on May 22 at Town Hall.
The Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority and SmartPower offer the Solarize Connecticut program, which leverages group discounts through a pre-selected installer to reduce the cost of solar and relies on the community to provide outreach and education, according to a news release.
Town officials interviewed installers and selected Encon Solar to conduct all of the town’s solar installations contracted under the 20-week program. To participate in the discounts offered through the program, residents must sign a contract by Oct. 14.
The town will join 11 other communities in the fourth phase of Solarize Connecticut. Bloomfield, Brookfield, Essex, Farmington, a coalition of Haddam and Killingworth, Montville, Simsbury, Tolland, Torrington and Weston also are participating.
More information about Solarize East Lyme is available by visiting www.solarizect.com/eastlyme or contacting Encon Solar at (203) 375-5228, ext. 4.
