On May 7, the Old Saybrook Police and Fire departments in conjunction with the Old Saybrook Board of Education conducted a mock car crash at the Old Saybrook High School. Numerous Old Saybrook and regional public safety agencies joined together with students to simulate some of the serious consequences of drinking and driving and distracted driving.

The mock accident was a senior project for three Old Saybrook High School students (who are also junior firefighters) working in conjunction with the school resource officer and the Fire Department, who assisted in planning the event. The students felt this event would provide a strong message to the young adults in our community about the serious dangers of using drugs and alcohol especially around the spring prom season.
