Groton — A Rhode Island man was killed Tuesday night when he was ejected from his car after hitting a median on Interstate 95 south in the vicinity of Exit 90.
Police said Keith Bowers, 44, of Ashaway was driving south in the right lane when his Ford Explorer crossed over the left lane, left the travel portion of the roadway and struck the metal beam guardrail.
The car traveled back onto the highway and rolled over several times before coming to its final rest on its roof in the right lane, police said.
Bowers was ejected from the car and sustained fatal injuries, police said. The report said it was not known whether he was wearing a seat belt.
The accident, which happened at 11 p.m., remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call Troop E in Montville at (860) 848-6500.
