The Exchange Club of Madison has honored Rachel Anderson, the daughter of Karen and Vinnie Anderson, with the David Bell Scholarship Award for its May 2014 Youth of the Month Award. The Daniel Hand High School (DHHS) senior was nominated by the DHHS faculty and completed a competitive application that included an essay titled "Parading the Spirit of Community Service with Passion and Commitment," performing outstanding DHHS and community activities, attaining an excellent grade point average, and demonstrating personal achievements and earning awards.

Youth of the Month and Year Programs Chair David Bell presented Anderson with a $200 award and a commemorative Madison Exchange Club plaque. Anderson is an honors student, member of the DHHS field hockey team and Young Republicans Club, an elementary religious education teacher at St. Margaret's Church, an eBay business co-owner donating used or new clothing, a member of the Women of the World Club, and a participant in Relay for Life and the Cove Run.

Anderson was chosen to attend the leadership conference in Hartford to meet Miss Connecticut, and is president of the Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital Junior Board that organizes fundraising events all over Connecticut. Next year she will continue her education at Fairfield University as a business major.
