Man charged in Waterford convenience store robbery

Waterford — Police said they have charged a man in connection with the April 16 robbery of the Cumberland Farms store on Route 32 in the Quaker hill section of town.

Joseph Williams, 19, who is homeless, was taken into custody today after being apprehended by Groton Town Police following a foot pursuit in that town. Williams was charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree robbery, first-degree unlawful restraint and third-degree assault. Williams is being held on a $100,000 bond and will appear in New London Superior Court Tuesday.
