New London — City Police said they detained on the Cross Sound Ferry on Thursday a 42-year-old man who had allegedly threatened an individual in New York and then fled the scene, telling his relatives that he was heading to Massachusetts to kill a family member.
The New York State Police told the New London Police Department about the man, Shawn L. Douglas. He was wanted in connection with the threatening with a firearm incident that occurred in South Hampton, NY on Thursday, according to the police report.
It was reported that Douglas was potentially carrying a Mac-10 firearm when he took the Susan Anne from Orient Point, NY en route to New London, according to police.
New London police said they detained Douglas as the ferry docked in port at 4:07 p.m. on Thursday and found him in possession of a loaded firearm.
Douglas was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, breach of peace and possession of marijuana. He is likely to face more charges in New York, according to police.
