Groton — A man suffered multiple stab wounds Friday following an attack in the Midway Oval section of town.
Town police were dispatched at 2 p.m. to the emergency department of the Pequot Health Center after being notified of a 46-year-old male being treated for stab wounds, police said.
The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was attacked in the area of Midway Oval and Vergennes Court, according to a statement from Detective Lt. John Varone.
During the attack, the unidentified man was stabbed in the back multiple times. He was transported to the emergency department by a good Samaritan. The wounds are not considered life-threatening, police said.
Varone said the attack is not a random act of violence and the victim was specifically targeted.
Anyone who has information about the stabbing is asked to contact Groton Town Police at (860) 441-6712.
