North Haven Police are looking for witnesses who may have witnessed a man who they say was drunk and driving erratically on Pool Road around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3.
Dennis Ohara, 48, of North Haven was arrested after a witness called police and reported that she was traveling north on Pool Road behind a silver Toyota, driven by Ohara, that had veered into the southbound land. The witness continued to follow Ohara as he swerved across a roadway nearly striking a child standing at the curb waiting for the school bus.
Ohara traveled north until he pulled into the parking lot of Temple Pines Senior Housing at 191 Pool Road. Once in the parking lot, Ohara struck a metal light pole causing damage to the cement base. He fled the area south on Pool Road where he was observed traveling on the wrong side of the road nearly striking a school bus head on.
Ohara finally pulled into the parking lot of 334 Washington Avenue where he struck a large air conditioning unit that was mounted on the ground. Officers arrived, and witnessed Ohara attempting to flee the scene. Ohara was pulled from the vehicle prior to him leaving another accident scene.
Anyone who witnessed the erratic operation, or motor vehicle accidents this morning are asked to call the North Haven Police Department at 203-239-5321.
