This city gets more ridiculous and ludicrous every single day. Does the mayor really think $100,000 is a fair price for the Lighthouse Inn, "Sole bidder offers $100,000 to buy Lighthouse Inn," (May 29), when it is valued at $3 million? Does anyone honestly believe this sole bidder has the necessary money - $2 million to $2.5 million - to restore it to its former historic grandeur? When the city has spent more than $67,000 to prepare the inn for sale, is it really to be sold for $100,000? Why not just give it away?
And a 10-mill increase in the mill rate in New London ? How did this suddenly happen? City councilors?
