Top-ranked Fitch High School's Class L state softball tournament semifinal game against No. 5 Lauralton Hall was postponed because of rain on Monday and has been rescheduled for Wednesday at 4 p.m. at West Haven.
The Falcons, who went 20-0 in the regular season, rallied in the bottom of the seventh to beat No. 8 Maloney 4-3 in the quarterfinals on Friday. The other Class L semifinal betwween No. 10 Berlin and and No. 19 Sacred Heart of Hamden was also moved to Wednesday and will follow the Fitch-Lauralton Hall game at 7 p.m.
Three other local teams will play their state semifinal games today.
In baseball, surprising East Lyme, the No. 17 seed in Class L, plays No. 4 Notre Dame of West Haven at 3:30 p.m. at Palmer Field in Middletown while No. 2 Stonington plays No. 3 Old Lyme in the Class S girls' lacrosse semis at 6 p.m. at Waterford.
• Sam Ognisty tied for 10th (78) and Jack Ognisty tied for 32nd (86) as Stonington tied for seventh with 343 points at the CIAC Division III tournament at Tallwood Country Club in Hebron. Also finishing for Stonington were Joel Nelson (43rd, 88), Noah Blanchette (55th, 91), and Will Cavaliere (74th, 96). Grasso Tech's Trevor Hutchinson shot an 86 and tied for 32nd. East Catholic won the team title with 311 points. Preston Shortell of Holy Cross shot an even-72 to win individual honors.
• Norwich Free Academy's Frank Lee tied for 47th (82) and Justin Bohara tied for 76th (86) at the Division I tournament at Crestbrook Park in Watertown. Glastonbury (303 points) and Manchester's Blake Kelley (70) were the team and individual winners, respectively.
• Tryouts for the Montville American Legion baseball team were rained out on Monday and rescheduled for today at 5 p.m. at Montville High School. For more information contact Mitchell Furber at (860) 917-9234.
