Waterford — A Groton woman fled from police early Saturday morning after being arrested on a multiple-count warrant, but she was quickly apprehended after a brief chase. 

Michelle D. Choquette of 108 Driftwood Circle was charged with interfering with a police officer, escape from custody, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a release on the Waterford Police Department Facebook page. Her age was not given, but police said she was born in 1987. 

Choquette was held today on a $25,000 bond and will also face charges on the Groton Town warrant, police said. 

Police said they arrested Choquette at 3:30 a.m. at the Henny Penny on Norwich Road in Quaker Hill. They heard during roll call information about the active arrest warrant for Choquette and a description of her car. 

When an officer spotted the car on Route 32, its driver pulled into the gas station and then tried to hide in the bathroom, police said. 

Officers eventually were able to get Choquette out of the bathroom to arrest her, according to police. 

"While handcuffed, Choquette, who is very thin, slipped from her handcuffs and ran from the officers, but was quickly apprehended after a short foot chase," police said in the release.
