I would like to join the other veterans who have nothing but praise for the VA (June 8 guest commentary, "VA has its problems, but don't overlook the good" and June 11 letter, "Most VA caregivers do a great job for veterans").
Recently, I had several appointments at the VA facility in West Haven. I arrived at 8:15 a.m. and had my car parked by valet parkers - "No tips, please."
At 8:30 I had an X-ray of my back. At 9 I had a blood test. At 9:45 I had an eye exam. At 10:30 I had a chiropractic treatment, and the doctor had already received the X-ray that was taken that morning. At 11 a.m. I had a flu shot. That's five different appointments in one morning; amazing service from the VA.
Courtesy, consideration and timely scheduling are the norm at the New Haven VA facility. It's a shame that veterans in other parts of the country are not receiving similar service.
Vets in Connecticut have nothing but praise for the VA.
