Norwich police academy graduates begin field training

Norwich — Two city police officers graduated from the Connecticut Police Academy Wednesday and will now begin a 12-week field-training program with the city department's patrol division. 

Officer Guy Cherenfant, 29, was born in Cap-Haitien, Haiti. He lived there until the age of 16 before moving to Chatham, Mass. Cherenfant earned an associate's degree in criminal justice from Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester, Mass. He is fluent in French, French Creole and English. He lives in Putnam. 

Officer Robert McKinney, 29, was born in New London and raised in Quaker Hill. He received a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Connecticut in 2008. He lives in Norwich.
