Montville — More than 2,000 people in town and in Waterford are without power after a crane got entangled in some wires in the area of Route 163 and Meeting House Lane.
Police said the operator was still in the crane. A Connecticut Light & Power crew was at the scene and was going to turn off the power before safely getting the operator out. No injuries were reported.
The power outage also caused an additional transformer to go out in the area of 267 Route 163.
The Department of Transportation is reporting that Route 163 between Bridge Street and Pequot Road is closed as a result of the downed lines.
CL&P is also reporting that 1,559 customers in Montville and 1,218 customers in Waterford are without power as a result of the crane entanglement.
Mitch Gross, a spokesman for CL&P, said it would be at least another hour before power is restored. The incident was reported shortly before 10 a.m.
