Author Dorothea Benton Frank will be at Mystic's Bank Square Books on Tuesday, June 24, at a luncheon celebrating her novel, "The Hurricane Sisters." Set in the South Carolina Lowcountry, "The Hurricane Sisters" is a witty but often heartbreaking tale of three generations of women whose dreams are threatened by long-buried family secrets. One of the issues at the heart of the novel is domestic abuse, and Benton Frank is well known for her activism against sexual assault and domestic abuse. Representatives of New London's Safe Futures, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a secure haven and hope for such victims, will be at the signing. Lunch-only is $10; lunch and a signed hardcover copy is $30. RSVP required. Bank Square Books is at 53 West Main St.; (860) 536-3795.
