Montville - Izzy Davila pitched a four-hitter to help lead New London to a 3-2 victory over Montville in an American Legion Zone VI baseball game on Friday at Montville High School.
Davila struck out six and walked one. Peter Aldrich had two hits and scored a run and Aaron Michaud and Justin Marceau had RBI singles for New London (6-4). Dominic Walmsley took the loss, allowing five hits over 5 2-3 innings with eight strikeouts and five walks. Stan Kesilewski tripled for Montville (0-6).
In other games:
• Owen Tretter had two hits in each game and drove in three runs as Niantic swept a doubleheader from Montville on Thursday. Will Butler pitched a seven-hitter as Niantic (6-1) won the opener 5-1 and Matt Przybysz allowed six hits over six innings in a 10-4 win in the second game. Austin Toback had three hits in the opener and Mike Morgan had three hits in the second game for Niantic. Nick Clemons and Stan Kesilewski each had two hits and two RBI in the second game for Montville.
• Jordan Hamler and Jon Mewha combined to pitch a one-hitter as the Southeastern Savages beat the Panera Pirates 5-0 in an Eastern Connecticut Major League game Thursday night. Erik Hamler was 2-for-3 with a double and Andre Foster had two hits for the Savages.
• The Waterford Speedbowl hosts the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour's The Mr. Rooter 161 tonight. Tonight's card will also include the SK Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks and Mini Stocks. Qualifying begins at 5 p.m., the driver autograph session is at 7 and the Mr. Rooter 161 feature will begin at approximately 8:30. Grandstand admission is $38 for adults and $10 for ages 6-14.
District 10 LL softball (11-12)
• Allison Venditti had two hits and drove in two runs as Groton/Mystic beat East Lyme 11-1 in four innings. Aspen Ryan was the winning pitcher, striking out five, and Allison Georgetti and Olivia Carney each had a hit and drove in a run for Groton/Mystic.
