Merry Cassabria of RE/MAX Home Team in Waterford has been named local Realtor of the Year for 2014.
The designation by the Eastern Connecticut Association of Realtors, which covers New London and Windham counties, recognizes a real estate agent who exemplifies professionalism.
"I am always available to assist new Realtors and freely give them all the information that I have available," Cassabria said.
Cassabria received her award this month during a member appreciation evening at the Spa at Norwich Inn hosted by ECAR.
Also recognized were David Johnston of PrimeLending in Milford as Affiliate of the Year and Quincy Clayton of RE/MAX Alliance in Groton as Young Professional of the Year.
Johnston has been the co-chair of an ECAR committee dealing with real estate company affiliates and teaches real estate principles and practices.
"I love what I do, and I enjoy teaching Realtors all aspects of mortgage financing," he said.
Clayton's recognition marked the first time a young professionals award has been handed out. ECAR members under age 40 are eligible.
Clayton founded the ECAR Young Professionals Network and Committee. He also is active on various ECAR committees as well as serving on the association's board of directors as treasurer.
Also announced during the awards ceremony was the nomination of Robert Kimball, an agent for William Raveis Real Estate in Mystic, as Connecticut Realtor of the Year. Kimball, the 2007 ECAR Realtor of the Year, has served one term as president of the Connecticut Realtors Association and currently sits as a director for the National Association of Realtors.
