Mystic - The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center has announced a contest in which the public can help name its three new resident birds.

A broadwing hawk, a barred owl and a screech owl have become permanent residents of the center over the last few months, two because of injuries that make them non-releasable and one from a rescue group that could no longer care for it.

The public can enter the contest by posting their suggested names on the appropriate photo on the center Facebook page at http://tinyurl.com/ld8wguq).

Entries will be accepted through June 30, and the winning names will be announced in early July. Center staff will choose the winning names.

Each winner will get to meet the birds in a up-close-and-personal session.
