Another UConn NBA Draft night celebration

UConn added to the basketball program's impressive list of NBA Draft choices on Thursday night.

Shabazz Napier became the 19th first round selection from UConn while DeAndre Daniels went in the second round.

Charlotte picked Napier at No. 24 and then traded him to the Miami Heat who gave up the 26th pick and two second round choices. Toronto took Daniels in the second round at No. 37.

It is the eighth time that at least two Huskies have been picked in the same draft.

Napier attended the draft, which was held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Daniels watched with his family in Connecticut.

"My mind right now is twirling...," Napier told reporters during his press conference. "I'm just super happy right now."

Napier will join a Heat team that includes former UConn standout Ray Allen.

Daniels, who left UConn after his junior year, also was thrilled about being drafted. He worked out for Toronto during the pre-draft process.

"This is a dream come true," Daniels said. "This is what I always wanted to do as a little kid. I'm just excited right now. .. When I heard my name called, I started crying and hugged my family."

Daniels and Napier spoke on the phone tonight.

"We're going to keep working," Daniels said. "We’re going to go out and prove people wrong. We both have chips on our shoulders."

Napier was the last player left in the Green Room when his name was called. He told ESPN that he was the best point guard in the draft.

Five other point guards were selected before Napier on Thursday.

"I wouldn't be Shabazz Napier if I wouldn't have said that," Napier said. "I believe it, and I'm going to prove it."
