Norwich - State police said they charged a woman with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs Friday night after she lost control of her car and drove into the back of a cruiser occupied by a police K-9 at a highway construction site in Norwich.
The crash occurred at 10:08 p.m. in the southbound lane of Interstate 395 about a mile north of Exit 80, according to a police report.
Neither the woman, 18-year-old Rajeana Tana of 10 Franklin St., New London, nor the dog was injured. The trooper was out of the car at the time and was not injured. Both the woman’s car, a 1994 Toyota Corolla, and the cruiser sustained moderate damage, according to the report.
Troopers found a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the car, according to the report. Tana was released on a $1,500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Norwich on July 8.
