The Old Saybrook Office of Emergency Management has launched StormArthur.com, an informational website set up in the event Tropical Storm Arthur impacts Connecticut.
Arthur, the first named storm of the hurricane season, is currently off the coast of Florida and expected to reach hurricane strength as it moves up the coast this week. The National Weather Service calls for the storm to track out to sea as it moves past Connecticut.
There is a chance for showers and thunderstorms late Wednesday into Thursday from an unrelated cold front. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain, and flash flooding is possible if the front interacts with Arthur, according to the National Weather Service.
Showers are also predicted for Friday. Saturday and Sunday are expected to be sunny.
StormArthur.com will outline how best to prepare for the possible storm and also act as a forum for sharing information, according to a statement from Police Chief Michael Spera, who is also the town’s director of emergency management.
