East Lyme — Police are investigating a potential road rage incident that happened Friday night and resulted in the serious injury of one of the drivers.
Police said the incident happened at about 5:45 p.m. George Krawshuk, 55, of Farmington was driving a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Route 156 towards Route 161 in the Niantic section of town, police said, and Christopher R. Hollaway, 48, of East Lyme was traveling in the same direction following Krawshuk.
Both vehicles were stopped at a red light when, police said, Hollaway intentionally bumped into the rear of the motorcycle. Police said Krawshuk reacted and Hollaway again struck the back of the motorcycle. This time, police said, Krawshuk fell to the ground, striking his head.
Police said Hollaway left the scene and continued traveling westbound on Route 156, then turned left onto Route 161 and pulling into the Niantic Fire Department.
Police said they quickly detained him.
Krawshuk was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, where he remained in fair condition Tuesday.
Police have yet to charge anyone in the incident and, they said, the case remains under investigation.
