New London motorcyclist in critical condition after crash

Norwich — A 20-year-old New London man remained hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday as the result of a collision between his motorcycle and a commercial box truck in Norwich.

Emanuel G. Rivera of Colver Street in New London was involved in the 10:30 p.m. crash Monday near the intersection of West Town Street and the Route 2 on-ramp, according to a police statement. Police responded with members of the Yantic Fire Department.

Rivera was taken by American Ambulance to The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich and later flown to Hartford Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the commercial truck was not injured.

Police said their accident reconstruction team responded and continue their investigation into the cause of the crash.

Any witnesses to the crash are asked to contact Officer Thomas Lazzaro at (860) 886-5561 ext. 6.
