Police: Stranger approached children playing at Waterford playground

Waterford — Police are looking for a man who they say approached two children playing on the playground of the Quaker Hill Elementary School Monday and asked them if he could inspect their bodies for ticks.

Police said the incident happened while a Little League game was being played. The man, police said, approached the children and  began asking them about local schools and what grades they were in. The man left but soon returned telling the children that he was a doctor and that he wanted to inspect their bodies for a new type of tick, police said.

The male is described as a white male about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. He was seen driving a newer model, four-door white Audi with Connecticut license plates.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Waterford police at (860) 442-9451 and reference case number 2014-01286.
