Some warnings from police for Old Lyme beach visitors

Published July 05. 2014 4:00AM

Old Lyme - Police are warning drivers and residents that with this weekend's nice weather the Sound View Beach area will most likely reach capacity crowds and available parking areas will be full early each day.

Roads will also be closed in the beach areas to prevent hazardous traffic situations.

Police are also reminding visitors to the Sound View Beach area that they will be strictly enforcing rules over the holiday weekend, including bans on alcohol on the beach or in public, littering, fireworks and fires, dogs, and ball-playing on the beach.

In addition, no lifeguards will be on duty. Illegal parking will result in vehicles being ticketed and towed.

Extra police officers will be on duty specifically to enforce drunk driving and other hazardous moving violations.

Additional officers and beach rangers will be assigned to the beach area.
