Three Waterford teachers will keep their jobs
Waterford — The three teachers who were notified earlier this year that they would not have jobs in the 2014-15 school year will be able to keep their positions.
Assistant Superintendent Craig Powers said Monday the district was able to place some of its more experienced staff in positions as literary and math coaches, opening up space to keep the three teachers, who the district was considering letting go.
The teachers who received reduction in force notices — second-grade teacher Kathleen Ward and third-grade teacher Adrienne Servideo at Oswegatchie Elementary School, and Michele Hynes, a kindergarten teacher at Quaker Hill Elementary — were slated to be eliminated due to decreased enrollment, Superintendent Jerome Belair said.
State law requires school districts to notify the staff by May 1 if their contracts may not be renewed.
