Bear euthanized on Bradley International Airport property

WINDSOR LOCKS - A bear that wandered on to the property at Bradley International Airport was euthanized by state Environmental Conservation officers Thursday, a department spokesman said.

The bear had been spotted several times recently in the vicinity of the airport, but on Thursday the animal found its way on to the grounds, said Department of Energy and Environmental Protection spokesman Dennis Schain.

EnCon police responded to the airport and euthanized it, Schain said. The bear was in an area where it could have wandered on to a runway and compromised the safety of the aircrafts, he said.
