Lyme — Democratic State Senate Candidate Emily Bjornberg of Lyme announced Thursday that her campaign has qualified for public financing in compliance with Connecticut’s clean elections initiative, the Citizens’ Election Program.
The 33rd State Senate District covers Chester, Clinton, Colchester, Deep River, East Haddam, East Hampton, Essex, Haddam, Lyme, Old Saybrook, Portland and Westbrook.
Bjornberg said in the release that her campaign is the first in the 33rd State Senate District race to qualify for the public financing.
“I am very proud to be running a strong, clean campaign under Connecticut’s Citizens’ Election Program,” said Bjornberg in a statement. “We have received hundreds of small donations from people all over the 33rd District, and their outpouring of enthusiasm and support has been overwhelming. I want to thank everyone who made a contribution to get this campaign off to such a strong start.”
