Montville man charged with home invasion, sexual assault

Montville — State police arrested a Montville man Thursday who they say entered an unknown residence, woke up three juvenile females and inappropriately touched at least one of them.

Alex Petherick, 18, 48 Park Ave. Extension was charged with home invasion, fourth-degree sexual assault and three counts of risk of injury to a minor.

State police said they received a complaint at 11:48 p.m. Tuesday. The caller reported that his juvenile daughter and two other juvenile females were asleep in his daughter’s room when Petherick, who is unknown to them, entered the girl’s bedroom.

Police said Petherick woke up the daughter and was in the home for a short time before becoming startled and running out of the bedroom and house.

State police along with state police K-9 units and detectives from the Eastern District Major Crimes Unit searched the area. After interviewing witnesses, they developed information that led them to Petherick.

Petherick was held in lieu of a $150,000 bond pending his arraignment Friday at Norwich Superior Court.
