Hendrickson advances to Norwich Invitational semis

Defending champion Dan Hendrickson won a pair of matches Saturday, advancing to today's semifinals of the Norwich Invitational at the Norwich Golf Course. Hendrickson, the former Waterford High School standout who is seeded second, now lives in Charlotte, N.C.

Joining him in the Championship Flight semifinals are No. 12 Phil Perry of East Lyme, No. 14 Joey Derrico and top seed Josh Cameron of Mystic.

Cameron will play Perry at 8:54 a.m., and Hendrickson will face Derrico at 9:01 a.m. The championship is set to go off around 1:30 p.m.

Hendrickson beat Dave Jones 1-up in the round of 16 and beat Chris Bennett 3 and 2 in the quarterfinals and Derrico advanced with wins over Tyler Bennett (2 up) and Steve Gambeski (1 up). Cameron beat Fletcher Babcock 1 up and Chris DeLucia 2 and 1 and Perry beat his nephew Matt Fuller of Old Lyme 4 and 3 then Jeff DeLucia 1 up.

Bobby Eldridge, Ed Hilario, Matt Lame and Hunter Byram advanced to the semifinals in Flight 1.
