Two displaced in Norwich fire

Norwich — City firefighters Sunday night quickly extinguished an apartment fire at 2 East Baltic St. that displaced two adults.

Battalion Chief Jim Kurasz said the fire was reported at 9:24 p.m. and was knocked down in 30 minutes. He said the fire was confined to the one apartment. He said multi-family residential building had a total of 11 apartments. All tenants, except the two who lived in the affected apartment, were allowed to return to their dwellings.

In addition to the city fire department, the Mohegan Tribal FAST team and the American Red Cross also responded.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
