Christie headed to Connecticut for campaign events
Greenwich (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is continuing his summer fundraising blitz with a trip to Connecticut.
The Republican governor is planning a series of campaign stops in Greenwich on Monday evening on behalf of Connecticut Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Foley.
Christie, who is chair of the Republican Governors Association, will then then head to fundraisers for the RGA and Connecticut Republican Party.
But the trip won't be controversy-free. Gun control advocates from Connecticut and New Jersey say they plan to protest his recent veto of legislation that would have reduced gun magazine capacities. Christie called the legislation "trivial." Protesters plan to line the road leading to the Belle Haven neighborhood, where Christie is expected for a fundraiser.
