Bozrah — Water was restored late Tuesday night to more than 200 customers who lost service after a 30-inch cast iron water main broke early that morning, a Norwich Public Utilities official said Wednesday.
The break occurred at 9:20 a.m. in the main artery that runs along Fitchville Road/Route 608 from the Deep Water Reservoir in Lebanon into Norwich.
Customers in town may experience a slight discoloration in their water through Wednesday afternoon. Customers should turn on the cold water tap and allow the water to run until it is clear. This normally takes 5-10 minutes, the NPU official said.
If the problem persists, customers are encouraged to contact the utility company at (860) 887-2555 during regular business hours and a technician will be dispatched.
Residential and commercial customers in Norwich are encouraged to limit non-essential water use throughout the course of the day as the entire water system returns to full strength.
