Connecticut Humanities has awarded the Groton Public Library a $1,500 grant to record and tell the stories of employees who worked at Electric Boat as the Cold War escalated in the 1960s.
The project aims to preserve the stories of engineers, draftsmen and tradespeople at a time when EB was playing a crucial role in the Cold War, and encourage a conversation about the impact of that work. The interviews will be part of an upcoming exhibit of photos and memorabilia at the library.
The interviews will be done by Barbara Nagy and James Streeter. Nagy managed a similar project for Connecticut College's Centennial in 2011 and is the site administrator at the Hempsted Houses in New London.
Those who wish to be interviewed should contact Nagy at firstname.lastname@example.org or (860) 908-7463.
