UConn football picked to finish tied for ninth in AAC
UConn was picked to finish tied for ninth in the American Athletic Conference preseason football media poll.
The Huskies, who went 3-9 overall last season, had 98 points and shared the spot with AAC newcomer Tulane. Only last place Tulsa (94) received fewer points.
"It has no bearing," said Bob Diaco, UConn's first year coach at conference media day in Newport today. "It will not be brought up. It has no weight or concern to our team for 2014."
Cincinnati was selected as the favorite to win the conference, earning 17 of a possible 30 first place votes. Central Florida placed second with seven votes and Houston third with six.
East Carolina, Southern Methodist, South Florida and Memphis ranked fourth through seventh.
