Norwich police seek suspects in armed robbery at beauty supply shop
Norwich — Police continued their investigation late Wednesday into an armed robbery at a beauty supply shop where two men held up a store clerk at gunpoint and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The robbery was reported at 12:47 p.m. at Sally Beauty Supply, a store located in the busy Marcus Plaza off West Main Street between T.J. Maxx and ShopRite. Norwich police responded with aid from state police and a dog team.
Police said two Hispanic men entered the store, and one of the men displayed a handgun, demanding cash from the store clerk at the register.
The men ordered the female store clerk, who asked not to be identified, to the back of the store several times while holding her at gunpoint. Instead, when a UPS delivery man walked in, she said she took the opportunity to run out the front entrance. She fled to the nearby ShopRite and called police.
Police said no injuries were reported in the incident, which remains under investigation by detectives. During the time police were searching the area of Marcus Plaza for the suspects, emergency responders were called to the scene of an accident in front of Wendy’s in which one vehicle had rolled over. The crash led to traffic congestion along Route 82.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Norwich police at (860) 886-5561.
