Vista Vocational & Life Skills Center recently held its graduation ceremony for the Class of 2014 at Westbrook High School. Each graduating student received a Vista diploma and commendation certificate from Congressman Joe Courtney for successfully fulfilling the obligations of Vista Entrance Program. During the ceremonies, each graduate was acknowledged for demonstrating the level of independence needed to begin the next phase of his or her life as a young adult living along the Connecticut shoreline.

This year's keynote speaker was Jonathan Slifka, the governor's liaison to the disability community, who encouraged the graduates to pursue their dreams by focusing on abilities rather than disabilities. Among the nearly 200 attendees were Connecticut state representatives Tom Vicino and Noreen Kokoruda, who both participated in this year's ceremonies, recognizing the achievements of Vista's graduating students with words of inspiration.

Vista also produced a video, asking graduation attendees, "Why are you here?" To watch the video, visit
