Norwich taxi driver dies in head-on collision in Preston early Saturday

Preston — A Norwich taxi driver died in an early morning head-on collision Saturday.

Michael T. Tamborra, 54, of Norwich was driving a taxi west on Route 2A when his car collided with a car driven by John S. Oswald, 23, of Franklin, who was driving east. The collision occurred at around 2 a.m. near Middle Road.

State police said they found Tamborra dead when they arrived on scene. Oswald suffered serious injury to his legs and was transported to The William W. Backus Hospital, according to a press release.

Oswald broke one of his legs. According to police, his injuries are not life-threatening.

The accident remains under investigation.
