Waterford — A Saturday night fire damaged a home at 79 Cross Road, temporarily displacing the family that lived there, fire officials said.

“It burned a room and some contents, but no one was injured,” Oswegatchie Fire Chief Mark Schenking said. “They lost a couple of pets.”

The fire was out when firefighters from the town’s Oswegatchie, Jordan and Cohanzie departments arrived, Schenking said.

Firefighters received the call at 9:49 p.m. The town fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
