Bozrah — First Selectman Bill Ballinger on Monday endorsed Democrat Bill Satti for the 20th District seat in the state Senate.
Satti and state Rep. Betsy Ritter of Waterford are vying for the Democratic nomination in an Aug. 12 primary, with the winner to run against Republican Paul Formica, the East Lyme first selectman, in November.
“Small towns like ours face significant challenges with the size of our Senate district, and ensuring appropriate representation in the state legislature is always a concern for us,” Ballinger said in a statement. “With Bill Satti, I am not worried. Bill Satti has proven that he will not ignore small towns like Bozrah and Salem, and that makes him the better choice.”
In addition to Bozrah, the 20th District comprises East Lyme, Montville, New London, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, Salem and Waterford.
