East Lyme — The Board of Education will provide an update Monday on its search for a new school superintendent.
Superintendent James Lombardo, who joined the district in 2009, will retire Jan. 1, 2015.

In addition, the board will discuss — and potentially take a vote on — appointing an interim assistant superintendent. Assistant Superintendent Brian Reas is departing the district to become the superintendent of schools in East Haddam.

The board will hold an executive session at 6 p.m. Monday, prior to the regular meeting, to interview candidates for the assistant superintendent position, as well as discuss personnel issues.

The regular Board of Education meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at East Lyme High School Room B101.
